Following on from the
announcement that Brett Cavanough will be taking over the stables of Greg
Bennet in Scone at the beginning of April, Brett Cavanough has sold his stud
farm, Jindera Park, which is situated near his former training base in Albury,
NSW.
The family owned Jindera Park operated as a successful boutique stud farm and
stood the stallions Duporth, Fast 'N' Famous, Nom Du Jeu, Va Pensiero and
Illustrious Blue last season.
The stud's foundation sire, Fast 'N' Famous is now for sale and as a proven
Group One producing son of Redoute's Choice with a terrific strike rate, he
shouldn't be on the market for too long. Duporth, also owned by Brett Cavanough
has already had some serious inquiries – which is not surprising given his
recent run of success and his progeny continue to be in great demand, averaging
$120,000 at the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Nom Du Jeu, a Group One AJC Derby winner of nearly $2million is a son of the
world class sire Montjeu. His oldest progeny are 5YOs of 2016-17 and he enjoyed
Stakes success last season with the Wanganui Guineas winner ALCALDESA and the
Group Two performed 2YO Athena. He is a sire with plenty of upside and had four
individual winners in the past week – Liapari (Randwick), Robin Hood (Singapore),
Forreel (Mudgee) and Prince of Babylon (Moe).
Illustrious Blue, owned by Belhus Racing, is a son of the renowned sire Dansili
and was a world class stayer who registered an astonishing seventh course
success at Goodwood culminating in the Group Two Goodwood Cup. His oldest
progeny are 3YOs of 2016-17 and he is off to a very promising start at stud
with two place-getters (Navy Blue and Deep Purple) from just three runners
to-date.
Va Pensiero retired to stud last season after proving to be one of the most
successful sprinters of his generation. The son of the ill-fated Stratum was a
record-breaking 2YO who won the Group Three San Domenico Stakes first up at 3
(beating Cluster, Kuroshio, Sidestep). He then backed up in the Group Three The
Run To The Rose (beating Dissident, Criterion, Zoustar, Eurozone). At 4 he was
second to Miracles of Life in the Group Two Challenge Stakes, beating Rubick,
Mossfun, Rain Affair).
All these stallions boast terrific fertility stats ranging from 86% to 93% last
season.
