Star
Witness enjoyed a two state metropolitan double on Wednesday with a brilliant
juvenile debut winner at Eagle Farm in Legadema and a smart three year-old
winner at Sandown in Hot Seat.
The speedy Mick Mair trained gelding Legadema showed his rivals a clean pair of
heels from the jump, leading throughout to win the 1000 metre maiden by three
and a quarter lengths.
A $20,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Berkley Park Stud,
Legadema is the first winner for Leopard Skin, an unraced daughter of
stakes-winner La Chasseuse.
Trained by Brian and Ashley McKnight, Hot Seat broke through at Sandown to
score his second win over 1200 metres after two recent narrow defeats.
A modest $14,000 Inglis VOBIS Gold Yearling purchase for Oakford Racing from
the Bowness Stud draft, Hot Seat is one of seven winners from the good
producing stakes-winner Hot Riff.
