Former
champion racehorse and now leading young sire So You Think is steadily building
momentum towards the Sydney and Melbourne Autumn Carnivals with two more
impressive new winners saluting at the Newcastle meeting on Tuesday.
Prepared by Joe Pride for Proven Thoroughbreds, three year-old gelding So
Spirited scored a bold length and a quarter win at his second run back from a
spell over 1250 metres.
A $150,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft for Jamie Walter's
Proven Thoroughbreds, So Spirited will be looking for longer journeys as his
campaign progresses and holds an entry for the Group I ATC Australian Derby on
April 1.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore, So Spirited is a half-brother to stakes-winner
Fire Thunderbolt and Group III placed Spirited Princess being the fifth winner
from good producer Spirited and Sexy, who died in 2014.
Making it a race to race double for So You Think was the Chris Waller trained
filly Naughty Thoughts, who was sent out favourite and took the 1350 metre
maiden by half a length.
Connections also have lofty aspirations for Naughty Thoughts, who has been
entered for the Group I ATC Australian Oaks on April 8.
A $330,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Debbie Kepitis' Woppitt Bloodstock from
the Ruane draft, Naughty Thoughts is the second winner for stakes-winning
Anabaa (USA) mare Marchelle Belle.
So You Think has six entries for Inglis Classic, 16 for Inglis Premier and 17
for Inglis Easter.
