Written Tycoon's Hot Dipped the Queen of Tassie Racing

Mark Smith - Sunday February 5

The Written Tycoon filly Hot Dipped left little doubt she is the benchmark 3yo filly in Tasmania following her victory in Sunday's $100,000 Listed Les Lees Strutt Stakes (2100m) and remain undefeated in her eight starts in her home state.

While the Brendan McShane trained filly is yet to break her duck in Melbourne in three starts, she made it five consecutive wins under regular rider Bulent Muhcu.

In a win more workmanlike than brilliant, Hot Dipped defeated Wyuna (Tough Speed) by three-quarters of a length with Triband (Fastnet Rock) a long-neck back in third in the traditional lead-up to the Tasmanian Oaks Tasmanian Oaks at Launceston on February 19.

"I can't see anything stopping her from doing that," McShane said. "But we'll sit down and discuss it.

"I only gave Bulent one instruction, to not use her brutal let-down speed to creep into the race.

"Average out the sections and you'll see why he went for home so early. That was my instruction, balance out the sections and you'll win."

In earning her third stakes win, Hot Dipped advances her overall record to 8 wins from 11 starts with earnings of $294,726.

A $33,000 Magic Millions Tasmania purchase for her trainer from the Reibey Lodge draft, Hot Dipped (pictured as a yearling)  is the best of three winners from Tasmanian stakes-winner Galvanized, a daughter of Rubiton from the family of Group winners La Bella Dame and Damselfly as well as stakes-winner Le Bonsir.

Reibey Lodge will offer the current yearling from Galvanized, a colt by Statue of Liberty (USA), at the 2017 Tasmanian Magic Millions as Lot 88.

Galvanized was covered by Headwater at Vinery Stud last spring.
