That was just one of a number of firsts as Newcastle trainer Benjamin Smith and apprentice Andrew Adkins celebrated their first stakes win.
Smith admitted the tension got to him in the closing stages.
"I stopped watching. I turned away," Smith said.
He only looked up when the owners went into a rapturous celebration.
"She's got great determination and I told Andrew don't be afraid if you're stuck three-wide. If you give her room we'll see the best of her," Smith said.
Adkins said it was a day to savour.
"It got a bit awkward there coming towards the turn but they were going a bit steady so I put her up on the speed," Adkins said.
"She gave me a really good sight turning for home and it was a terrific win.
"It's a day I'll always remember."
