Snitzel Colt Books His Ticket to the Blue Diamond

Mark Smith - Saturday February 4

Strapping Snitzel colt Jukebox rewarded connections with a valuable prize when turning Saturday's $250,000 Inglis Premier (1200m) at Caulfield into a one act affair.

Ridden by Craig Williams for Caulfield trainer Ciaron Maher, Jukebox tracked another son of Snitzel, Perast, in the run and when that wayward Sydneysider wobbled around the turn, Williams drove Jukebox along the fence and put the race to bed in a matter of strides.

"He's always been our benchmark two-year-old," Maher said

"He's very professional and very natural.

"It was ideal for that horse to roll of the fence and give him the saloon passage up the rail.

"It's three weeks to the Blue Diamond now so it's nice spacing.

A $200,000 purchase by his trainer from the Blue Gum Farm draft at last year's Inglis Premier Yearling sale, Jukebox is undefeated in two starts after opening his account at Geelong back on January 12.

He is the fifth foal of the Rory's Jester mare Jestatune whose six wins included the Listed WATC Gimcrack Stakes and Perth Magic Millions 2yo Classic.

Purchased at the 2011 Oakland Park Stud Broodmare Dispersal for $190,000, Jestatune is a half-sister to Group I WATC Kingston Town Classic Ihtsahymn.

Not covered in 2015, Jestatune visited Not A Single Doubt last spring.

Snitzel is on fire again with his juveniles this season, assuring him to be the most sought after stallion at the upcoming sales.

The son of Redoiute's Choice has 10 yearlings at the Classic, 13 at the Premier and 44 catalogued for Easter.
