Magnus Overflow of Stakes-winners

Media Release - Thursday February 2

MAGNUS has produced his 14th individual stakes winner with the brilliant sprinter, Volcanic General, capturing the Listed (Malaysian G1) Tunku Gold Cup at Selangor on Monday.

Having his first start in Malaysia, Volcanic General hit the front 300m from home against some spirited opposition and proved too strong over the concluding stages.

MagnusRacing in Australia as Volcanic Ash, the Magnus 5YO was trained by Mick Price and won five from 19 - including three in Melbourne - and over a quarter of million in stakes.

Bred by Robert Crabtree's Dorrington Farm, Volcanic General is out of the Distant Music mare, Silverbeat who has produced three winners - all of them stakes winners - including Volcanic General's full brother Alpha Beat.

Other close relations include Group winner and Group One runnerup, Any Rhythm, and Group One winner Zarita.

Sun Stud's Magnus has 14 yearlings entered for the 2017 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale on 26 February to 1 March (two via the Sun Stud draft) including a full brother to million dollar earner, I'm In Charge and a full brother to Melbourne Group winner, Miss Promiscuity.
