$250,000 Inglis Premier This Saturday

Media Release - Thursday February 2

A final field of 10 runners has been declared for Saturday's $250,000 Restricted Listed Inglis Premier (1200m) at Caulfield.

This will be the 18th edition of the Inglis Premier, a race in which prizemoney is taken into account in the ballot conditions for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

Impressive previous winners Snitzerland and Twilight Royale progressed to win Group 1 races throughout their careers.

Snitzel is the sire of both Jukebox and PerastTwo undefeated colts Jukebox (Ciaron Maher) and Perast (Paul Perry) will be out to keep their perfect race record intact on Saturday, while four of the runners in this year's race are on debut.

The Inglis Premier is restricted to horses purchased at the 2016 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale.

Newcastle trainer Paul Perry will saddle up Perast, who won by 3.5 lengths on debut at Scone in mid-January.

"The prizemoney is so good in these Inglis races we thought we'd put him on a float and see how he goes down there,'' Perry said.

"He's doing everything right, he won well the other week, he's drawn nicely so he should put himself in the race again and the trip away can only help him too.''

The Inglis Premier is Race 4 on Saturday, to jump at 2.15pm.
