Three
year-old High Chaparral (IRE) filly Grande Roche opened her career with a
stylish victory at Vaal in South Africa on Thursday.
Prepared by Geoff Woodruff, Grande Roche bolted away to win the 1200 metre
maiden by three and three-quarter lengths and is obviously bred to get further so this is a particularly promising debut victory.
An $80,000 Inglis Easter purchase for James Bester Bloodstock from the Coolmore
draft, Grande Roche is a half-sister to Group II winner Rocha and is the sixth
winner from six foals to race from Group I winner Larrocha, a full sister to Group I winner and leading WA sire Blackfriars.
