Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Australia's Expansion Continues

Media Release - Saturday January 14
Two exciting fillies have been added to Highclere Australia's racing team at Magic Millions sale.

Both fillies were selected by leading international Bloodstock Agent and Her Majesty The Queen's racing manager John Warren who, along with Highclere Chairman and Founder Harry Herbert, buy all of HTR'S horses with their record speaking for itself. Together they have acquired and raced seven champions, the most notable of which is Harbinger , the 2010 World Champion.

Lot 239 - Smart Missile ex Miss Vandal, the first filly to be knocked down to John for $250,000, comes from a terrific black type family which includes Gr 1 performer and first season sire Eurozone and Gr 2 winner and Gr 1 producing broodmare, Miss Marielle.

Regardless of how she performs on the track, this filly will prove a valuable broodmare prospect for Highclere share owners. She was bred, reared and sold by one of the leading Hunter Valley nurseries in Yarraman Park, who have retained a 25% interest and will be trained by the Gr 1 winning partnership of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

Lot 639 – Exceed And Excel ex Ashley's Kitty, was a standout for John who stretched to $380,000 to ensure this filly spent her career racing in the famous pale in navy blue and is the fourth highest priced Exceed And Excel sold so far, being out of the Gr 3 Hollywood Park Railbird S. winner, Ashley's Kitty.

Both fillies scored very highly on judgement criteria, but this filly stands out as a highly promising two year old type with the team hoping she can be back on the Gold Coast in twelve months time under the care of David Hayes and the team Lindsay Park Racing in Euroa.

In most cases, competing at the highest level in thoroughbred horse racing, often referred to as the Sport of Kings, is beyond one's wildest dreams, but Highclere Thoroughbred Racing ("HTR") has a proven track record of turning such dreams into reality. HTR is Europe's leading racehorse ownership company. Since its formation in 1992 by the Hon. Harry Herbert, HTR has produced 410 winners which is now translating into success with their newest venture, Highclere Australia, who boast an impressive 42% winners to runners strike rate last season on the back of the their flagbearer and NSW Champion Stayer, Libran.

Highclere's pale blue and navy armband silks will be racing three top quality stayers into the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival and beyond, in the form of Libran and Regal Monarch with Chris Waller and Foundation with David Hayes. These stayers along with three-year-old gelding Knighthood in training with Hawkes Racing and two-year-old filly Pageantry with Freedman Racing will complement the full arsenal of Highclere horses heading the Autumn, and there is no slowing down in sight for their growing roster of quality horses.

"We are so excited to be adding these two high-quality fillies to our growing roster of horses in Australia, and are delighted two have them in the very best of care with two of Australia's leading trainers in Gai Waterhouse and David Hayes. " Harry Herbert
