Tapit Filly an Aussie Sale Ring Star

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 11
Reigning 2016 champion US sire Tapit has two yearlings entered for the 2017 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and one of them sold at the Gold Coast on Wednesday for $700,000.

Consigned for sale by Newhaven Park, the dashing grey from US stakes-winner Leinan (USA) was much admired in the pre-sale inspections and was purchased by Sydney trainer Gary Nickson on behalf of long time client Rick Pisaturo of Mandalong Valley Farm.

She is the first foal of Leinan, who produced a colt by Snitzel last year and was then covered by
Newhaven Park's promising young sire Delago Deluxe.

The second yearling by Tapit will be offered as Lot 532 by Vinery Stud on Friday.

He is a half-brother to US stakes-winner Starfish Bay and stakes-placed Tekton and Love Train being from the good producing Group II winner Touch Love.

Tapit stands at a fee of $US300,000 in 2017 at Gainesway and is the most expensive stallion in North America.
