It is also the world's richest sales based incentive raceday and for the two and three-year-olds that get to their individual race at the peak of their powers, it could mean a lucrative return for their owners - The Magic Millions 2YO restricted Classic (1200m) and its counterpart the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) carry prizemoney of $2,000,000 each.
But before these two and three-year-olds get to their restricted races, they must first be sold by a vendor through a Magic Millions auction ring and Sun Stud (formally Eliza Park International) was responsible for selling two yearling colts in 2015 and 2016 that have a huge chance of winning their respected divisions in 2017. '
In 2015 at the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale, Lot 90 - a chestnut colt by Written Tycoon from the Show a Heart mare Winaura, was offered on account of Eliza Park International (As Agent).
The bid of $67,500 from Bjorn Baker would see the colt secured by the Warrick Farm based trainer.
The flashy chestnut was bred by Jeff Cullen of Wicklow Lodge QLD and would go on to be named WINNING RUPERT. Unbeaten in five stars to date, he is the raging $2.50 favourite for the 2017 MM Guineas race.
A year later in 2016 at the same Magic Millions March Yearling Sale, Lot 276 - a bay colt from the Piccolo mare Picabelle, was purchased by Chris Munce from the Sun Stud draft, the powerful looking colt sold for the bargain sum of $28,000.
The relatively early foal was bred by Mary Lee Trivett from Banchory Thoroughbreds and is now named OURS TO KEEP.
The colt is unbeaten in the three starts and was dominate in the B.J. Mclachlan Stakes at his most recent appearance. He is rated a $9 chance in markets, in what looks to be a very strong edition of the two-year-old MM Classic.
Sun Stud is offering seven precocious yearlings at the 2017 edition of Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
First crop yearlings by Fighting Sun and Fiorente are sure to impress, while the Snitzel colt, a half-brother to Group 1 winner Politeness, will be making plenty of short lists.
Queensland based stallions Bel Esprit and Love Conquers All are represented by a couple of cracking types. And the Foxwedge colt selling on behalf of Kevin Dixon's Racetree looks a classy individual.
