‘Must See’ at the Millions

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 2
We've bred and sold a Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner and bred three Group I winners in 2016 – is it any wonder our draft is always a 'must see' at the Gold Coast in January.

The Kelly family of Newhaven Park have a proud history of success that includes having bred four Golden Slipper winners - Prowl, Burst, Vivarchi and John's Hope - but while history is something to be proud of, it's current results that sell horses.

English - Lisa GrimmNewhaven Park bred three Group I winners in 2016 with Peeping, English and the Singapore trained Zac Spirit all tasting the sort of elite success to which every owner aspires.

The Newhaven bred and sold Unencumbered delivered the ultimate Magic Millions dream for his large group of owners when winning the 2014 Magic Millions 2YO Classic for the Bjorn Baker stable.

He was purchased for just $70,000 and went on to win $1.9 million!

Baker returned to the Newhaven Park draft last year and paid $200,000 for a Snitzel colt from Movie that will also have his chance at MM 2YO Classic success on Saturday week.

Progressive colt Goodfella won at Canterbury on December 16 and then flew home for a strong finishing second to unbeaten colt Ours to Keep in the Group III BRC BJ McLachlan Stakes on New Year's Eve.

Can lightning strike twice for Bjorn Baker from the Newhaven draft?

The 2017 Newhaven Park draft features 34 yearlings representing a diverse mix of the proven Kelly nurtured families as well as new blood, not to mention 13 youngsters by the farm's promising young sire Delago Deluxe, whose progeny averaged $169,000 in Book One of this sale last year.
