Torryburn Winner Brings a Magic Update

Tara Madgwick - Sunday January 1
Torryburn Stud enjoyed a timely New Year's Eve success with exciting four year-old Deploy, whose half-brother by leading sire Sebring promises to be a Magic Millions highlight next week.

DeployGelded before this preparation, blue blooded Fastnet Rock son Deploy made a stylish return to racing at Canterbury on December 16 and went right on with the job at the same venue on New Year's Eve.

Prepared by Gerald Ryan, Deploy (image Steve Hart)  had good form last season at three around Group and stakes winners such as Le Romain, Southern Legend and Sooboog, so has always promised to be above average.

He zoomed clear to win the 1200 metre Benchmark 78 sprint by two lengths and will be winning many more races.

A $450,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Torryburn Stud draft, Deploy runs for a syndicate that includes his breeder as well as Segenhoe Thoroughbreds and Stallion Racing.

Torryburn Stud principal John Cornish was on hand to greet Deploy on his return.

"That was a great run," said Cornish.

"He raced against top company last time, then had a good break and was gelded and is much the better for it.

"We're chuffed! We just love it!"

With three wins and five placings from nine starts, Deploy has always been consistent and could easily step up to stakes level this year.

He is one of three winners from four foals to race from Group III winning Red Ransom (USA) mare Crimson Reign.

Torryburn Stud will offer the current yearling from Crimson Reign, a colt by Sebring as Lot 740 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
