Unwanted as a yearling, Ours To Keep will head to the Magic Millions 2yo Classic as a leading chance after the son of Seidnazar kept his record at a perfect three for three in Saturday's $200,000 Group III Lilivale Stud B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m).
Trainer Chris Munce was left with Ours To Keep when the people he was purchased for decided they did not want him.
Now owned by the trainer's wife Cathy Munce and Gary Lawrence, Ours To Keep takes his earnings to $256,700.
The best to begin for Damian Browne, Ours To Keep defeated Goodfella (Snitzel) by one and three-quarter lengths with Coorg (Denman) a half-length back in third.
"I have ridden Melbourne Cup, Golden Slipper and Cox Plate winners but there is nothing like this," Munce told AAP.
"The work you put into them as a trainer and then to see them race like that.
"Ours To Keep is some horse. He really sprinted today and he ran the 1200 metres out like I thought he would.
"I won't be sleeping much in the next fortnight. What a thrill to have a horse like him in your stable."
Purchased by the trainer for $28,000 at the Magic Millions March Yearling sale, Ours To Keep (pictured as a yearling) is the fifth living foal of the four-time winner Picabelle.
The daughter of Piccolo has no close-up black-type, however, her third dam Golden Praise (Golden Plume) is the dam of the NZ 2000 Guineas winner Kingdom Bay (Otehi Bay) who became a leading sire.
Not covered in 2014, Picabelle produced a full-brother to Ours To Keep on September 8.
Seidnazar (Rory's Jester) stands at Banchory Thoroughbred for a fee of $2,200. He has only covered a handful of mares for the last two seasons.
