Yarraman Sold Filly Now Equal Slipper Favourite

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 31
Featured twice in Breednet's popular 'Juvenile Trial Watch' stories, exciting two year-old filly From Within lived up to her reputation on race day to score an easy debut victory over the colts at Canterbury on New Year's Eve.

Prepared by Chris Waller and sent out a hot favourite, From Within did everything right for Glyn Schofield from barrier one, jumping smartly to the lead and setting a good tempo.

The talented daughter of Not a Single Doubt slipped away on turning for home, quickly putting four lengths on her rivals before being eased down to the line to win the 1100 metre scamper by a length and a quarter.

From Within Chasing her home were expensive Snitzel colts Invader and Chauffeur, who topped the 2016 Magic Millions Yearling Sale when selling for $1.6 million.

A $360,000 Magic Millions purchase for Blue Sky Bloodstock from the Yarraman Park draft, From Within (images Steve Hart ) runs for Mark Sowerby (Blue Sky) and Raffles Racing, who will no doubt be looking with a degree of expectation towards the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on January 14.

"She's a professional ready made two year-old," said Chris Waller.

"She showed that in her trials and has proved it on race day. She knows what to do and can switch off. She's got the mental composure."

Bookmakers responded to her debut win with lightning speed promoting her to equal favouritism for the Golden Slipper with unbeaten Manhattan Rain filly She Will Reign.

The Golden Slipper is still some months away and Waller has a more immediate goal for the star filly at the Gold Coast.

Run over 1200 metres, the Magic Millions 2YO Classic is often contested at a hectic pace in hot conditions and Waller is under no illusions that it will be a much tougher task for From Within.

"It's only two weeks until the Magic Millions and we'll be making sure that we put her under a bit of pressure at home before committing to going," Waller said.

"We'll work her with a few older horses, get a bit of cover and make sure she learns about that side of racing as well."

From Within as a yearlingGlyn Schofield was glowing in his praise of From Within, who has also been elevated to favouritism for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic ahead of Madeenaty and another Yarraman Park sold filly in Invincible Star.

"She was effortless in her trials and she was effortless in her race today," he said.

"She has the attitude, size and speed… everything you want in a racehorse.

"She'll come out of this race with a lot of confidence and will be hard to beat wherever she goes next."

Bred by Harry Mitchell and Michael Freedman, From Within was foaled and raised at Yarraman and is a full sister to juvenile stakes-winner Cruden Bay and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Anabaa (USA) mare Zimaretto.

Zimaretto has no yearling for the sales in 2017, but did produce a filly by I Am Invincible this year.

Yarraman Park are headed to Magic Millions at the Gold Coast with another top class draft of 25 yearlings, 12 by I Am Invincible and five by Hinchinbrook.Click here to see the draft.
