There
is no better nick for champion sire Lonhro than with the daughters of this
sire.
Lonhro over daughters of Canny Lad has produced some spectacular results and
featured in the opening event at Warwick Farm on Wednesday which was won by the
impressive Godolphin three year-old Ghostly.
An unlucky second on debut at Wyong back in September, the John O'Shea trained
colt Ghostly was sent out favourite for the 1200 metre maiden and won as
expected by a length and a quarter.
A full brother to Group II winners Renaissance and Sessions, Ghostly has been
given time to mature and looks ready to progress in the footsteps of his
siblings.
"He's out of a very good family that includes Unwordly and Seances, but he's a
lot more relaxed than they were which adds another string to his bow," said stable representative Darren Beadman.
"John is in no rush to put him in the deep end, so he'll progress through the
grades."
Ghostly is the fifth winner from stakes-winning Canny Lad mare Seances, a
half-sister to ill-fated Group I winner Unworldly and Group II winner Gordo.
The Lonhro x Canny Lad cross runs at an impressive 84.8% winners to runners with
28 winners from 33 runners highlighted by seven stakes-winners headed by Group
I winner The Conglomerate.
