Success for Royal Fashion at Ellerslie on
Thursday could see her mixing it at the highest level with the older horses.
The lightly-tried three-year-old will resume in the Weekend Herald 1200 and a satisfactory
showing will have trainer Mark Forbes and Hong Kong-based owner Dr Gene Tsoi
mulling over another Group One start for the filly.
"She'll kick off again in the Rating 65 race over 1200 metres and if she goes
really well then we might just throw in a late nomination for the Telegraph,"
Forbes said.
The daughter of Snitzel is no stranger to Trentham having finished runner-up
there last season behind the Gr.1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes winner Luna
Rossa.
Following a spell, Royal Fashion was a first-up winner this term at Ruakaka
before she ran fourth in the Gr.2 James & Annie Sarten Memorial to earn a
trip to Riccarton for the Gr.1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas .
"She was pretty unlucky down there, when the rain came it was all over and
right from the jump she didn't cop the track at all," Forbes said.
A trip to Sydney for the half-sister to the Gr.2 Autumn Classic winner and Gr.1
Australian Guineas runner-up Alpine Eagle is also a future possibility.
"We're going to be keeping her to sprinting and there's a couple of fillies'
races over there at the shorter distances later on that might suit her," Forbes
said. – NZ Racing Desk.
