Armidale
Stud's exciting young Encosta de Lago son Needs Further sired his second winner
at Launceston on Wednesday with a dominant victory for Pateena Arena.
The Bill Ryan trained filly was fifth on debut behind Needs Further's first
winner Il Regalo on November 9 when she raced greenly.
Sent out favourite for her second start in the 1100 metre maiden, she produced
a strong display to win by two lengths.
A $22,000 purchase for her trainer from the Armidale Stud draft at the Tasmanian
Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Pateena Arena is a half-sister to stakes-placed
Happy and Hell and Dandy Gent.
She is the sixth winner from stakes-winning Ladoni (IRE) mare Gehenna.
With two winners from four starters, Needs Further has made a pleasing start to
his stud career.
A Group III winning half-brother to dual Group I winner Hallowed Crown, who stands at Darley, Needs
Further has 22 entries for the 2017 Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale on
