2016 Favourite Foal Winner

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday December 20
Renowned Hunter Valley nursery Willow Park Stud have added another string to their bow in producing the 2016 Breednet Favourite Foal of the Year.

"They were extremely taken by Animal Kingdom's Dubai World Cup win and said we must send one of our mares to him," explained Willow Park's Glenn Burrows.

"He won't be offered for sale and will eventually go to Matt Dale to be trained.

"They have two other mares in addition to her with the standout being Touched In Flight, the dam of $1.3 million earner Fell Swoop.

"The trio still maintain a minor share in Fell Swoop and have been living the dream of small breeder's with his achievements to date."

Willow Park will offer the half-brother to Fell Swoop by red hot young sire Star Witness as Lot 533 at Magic Millions.

"He's one of the stars of our Magic Millions draft for 2017 and is a magnificent individual," Burrows said.

"He has been extremely well received by the 44 on farm inspections that we have had thus far, so for three battling breeders their recent run of good fortune seems to just keep rolling along."

The winning picture was taken by Lisa Richards, who has been a full time employee at Willow Park for several years.

"In addition to doing all of our foaling, she is an integral part of our team at the sales and another of her passions is photography, so she now takes all of the on farm photos for clients," revealed Glenn Burrows.

"At this time of year, after work, she spends hours sitting in a paddock of mares and foals taking photos for our clients while at the same time trying to get that unique shot such as the one she won the competition with."
