First Group One Winner for Frankel

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 12
Champion racehorse Frankel has made a dazzling start to his stud career and put the icing on the cake over the weekend when siring his first Group I winner with two year-old filly Soul Stirring successful in the Group I Hanshin Juvenile Fillies in Japan.

A homebred for Shadai Farm from champion Monsun mare Stacelita, Soul Stirring won the one mile feature on turf by a length and a quarter and has now won three from three.

FrankelShe is the sixth stakes-winner and one of 18 winners sired by Frankel from his first Northern Hemisphere bred crop of foals.

His first Southern Hemisphere bred progeny are two year-olds and there will be another small offering of his stock at sales here next year with four youngsters entered for Inglis Easter, one of which, a colt from Give Me Five (Ger) is also catalogued for the NZB Premier Yearling Sale as Lot 181.

That colt is bred on the same cross as Soul Stirring as his dam Give Me Five is also by Monsun and is the dam of Group I Royal Ascot Gold Cup winner Colour Vision.
