From
last to first, talented Fastnet Rock filly Catchy made it look all too easy at
Moonee Valley on Friday night when scoring an explosive debut victory.
Trained by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Catchy was eased back at the start
from an outside gate by Craig Williams and found herself at the tail of the
field.
When angled into the clear on turning for home she charged to the line to score
a thrilling neck win in the 1000 metre scamper.
"She travelled well and handled the day well, she's got a big future," said
Williams, who compared the filly to former champion filly Miss Finland in his post race remarks.
A $220,000 Inglis Australian Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for
Dorrington Farm, Catchy is nominated for the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper.
She is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group II winner Cats
Whisker.
Coolmore will offer the full sister to Catchy at Magic Millions next month as Lot
703 and Cats Whisker produced another colt by Fastnet Rock this spring.
