The
yearling sales are fast approaching and with so many yearlings now carrying a
double cross of Danehill (USA) any news regarding this pattern of breeding is
eagerly received by our audience particularly the emergence of this
stakes-winner, who is the first to involve Snitzel.
Classy mare Sweet Redemption (pictured Steve Hart) claimed her first Black Type win in the Group III
ATC Festival Stakes at Rosehill over 1500 metres last Saturday.
A tough and competitive mare for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable,
Sweet Redemption campaigned in four states last season as a three year-old earning
Black Type with a second in the Listed Tasmanian Oaks at 2100 metres and a
third in the Group III MVRC Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley over 1600 metres.
Sweet Redemption is no speedy squib.
She’s strong, sound and versatile with five wins and eight placings from 18
starts with prizemoney nearing $300,000.
She is the 46th stakes-winner for double Danehill and has a 3x4
double cross being by Snitzel from a daughter of Group I winner Danglissa, who
is sired by Danzero.
The Danehill double cross involving Snitzel had previously enjoyed 66.7% winners
to runners with 34 winners from 51 runners, but Sweet Redemption is the first
stakes-winner bred this way.
