More Than Ready's Lusaha Claims Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic

Mark Smith - Saturday December 3

Champion Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman rode his first winner at Ascot when guiding the Dan Morton-trained Lusaha to victory in Saturday's Listed Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic (1400m).

It was the first stakes win for the 3yo gelded son of More Than Ready (USA).

Punters had it down to a two horse race and that's the way it turned out with the $ 2.75 second favourite defeating the $2.38 favourite Caipirinha (Nicconi) by a half-length with Precious Memories (Stratum) the same distance back in third.

A homebred for Mt Hallowell Stud, Lusaha advances his overall record to 3 wins and 2 thirds from 9 starts with earnings of $160,400.

He is the third foal of the Commands mare Rose Of Hallowell a sister to Golden Rose Stakes winner Court Command.

Rose Of Hallowell has a 2yo Starcraft filly named Miss Aubrey but has not been covered for the past two seasons.

International Stud success More Than Ready (USA) (photo Mark Smith) has 31 yearlings catalogued for the Gold Coast and 6 in the Classic Sale in Sydney.
