Best On Breeding

Mark Smith - Friday November 25

Defeated a nose on his career debut at Canberra on Friday, Curdled continued a frustrating run of minor placing for the high-profile first season sire All Too Hard but we're tipping all his supporters, including the vendors of 56 yearlings at the Magic Millions in January, will be rejoicing on Saturday when four youngsters by Black Caviar's half-brother make their debut.

In race 2 at Moonee Valley the Mike Moroney-trained Blackwolf Run and David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Rocketcod look to have ability while up at Rosehill Gardens the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Allied Power and the Michael, Wayne And John Hawkes-trained Reflectivity will be at double-figure odds in the Goldners Horse Transport Golden Gift (1100m) in a market dominated by Godolphin's debutant Florid (Commands).

It would be fitting for Team Hawkes to train the first winner by All Too Hard.

Not only did they put the polish on the 4-time Group 1 winning son of Casino Prince, they were among his biggest supports in the sales ring.

At a cost of $320,000 by Hawkes Racing / Vinery Stud from the Milburn Creek draft at the Inglis Easter Yearling sale, Reflectivity (pictured top as a yearling) scraped into the top five lots by his sire at the sale.

The family of blue hen Shantha's Choice has been in the news of late at the Keeneland November sale due to a pair of mares purchased by Hill 'n' Dale Farm's owner John Sikura at the Teeley Assets Dispersal.

Coolmore's M.V. Magnier paid $1.45 million for the sale's top-priced weanling, a son of War Front consigned by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency.

The colt is out of the Encosta de Lago mare Drifting Cube (AUS), a sister to Group II winner and popular Coolmore stallion Rubick.

Drifting Cube was bought by James Harron Bloodstock/ Hill 'n' Dale Farm for $1.1 million.

Another from the same family is Taste of Heaven who was purchased by Hill 'n' Dale for $1.5 million. Closely related to Drifting Cube, she is by Encosta de Lago out of Shantha's Choice.

Her first foal, a weanling filly by Medaglia D'Oro was knocked down to Blue Sky Bloodstock / Aquis Farm for $525,000.

Reflectivity is the third live foal of the stakes-placed Fusaichi Pegasus mare Climatic.

Purchased at the 2007 Inglis Easter Yearling sale for $1 million, Climatic is one of six, seven-figure daughters of Redoute's Choice's sister Monsoon Wedding.

The other starter for All Too Hard at Rosehill on Saturday, Allied Power (pictured bottom as a yearling), was the second most expensive lot by his sire at the 2016 Magic Millions Yearling sale when knocked down to China Horse Club for $470,000 from the Vinery Stud consignment.

The handsome chestnut colt is the second foal of the Group II Karrakatta Plate winner Night War (General Nediym) a half-sister to Group I Blue Diamond Stakes and Group 1 Moir Stakes heroine Samaready (More Than Ready) who visited All Too Hard in her first season in 2014 and now has a priceless yearling filly.
