A Breednet 'One to Watch', Maraini is in top order for the first black type
challenge of his fledgling career in Friday's Group III Lucia Valentina Wellington
Stakes at Otaki.
"He's got ability and is a promising horse," said Murray Baker, who trains in
partnership with Andrew Forsman. "We are pretty happy with him."
Maraini is part-owned by Lib Petagna, who raced multiple Group I winner Lucia Valentina.
A half-brother by Exceed And Excel to Group winner Hasselhoof, Maraini won a
Matamata maiden on debut and the colt then finished runner-up to the promising
Rising Shot at Te Rapa.
Maraini will be accompanied to Otaki by stablemates Caesour's Dream, who will
run in the Courtesy Ford 2YO, and the Kapiti News Premier contender Highland
Park.
Caesour's Dream, who is owned in Australia, was runner-up to Gift Of Power in
the opening two-year-old race of the season at Wanganui in September. "She's a
nice filly and I really like her," Baker said. - NZ Racing Desk
