Magnus Filly Stays Unbeaten

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 23
Sun Stud's Magnus is on target for more Group I success this Saturday with his star sprinter Malaguerra set to run in the Group I WATC Winterbottom Stakes, but it was one of his up and coming prospects that caught the eye at Sandown on Wednesday.

The Wez Hunter trained filly Magnatti was an easy winner on debut at Mornington on November 8 and backed up to win the Benchmark 70 sprint for three year-olds by a length.

Magnatti as a yearlingHunter said he would bring Magnatti along slowly in her summer campaign to ensure she lives up to her potential.

"I'll just look after her because I think she's pretty good," Hunter said.

"It was nice to see her take the sit today. She's still learning, but she was too good.

"We've always liked her and everything we've done, she has just taken to no worries. She's got a good brain on her."

A $130,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Eliza Park International draft for Wez Hunter/ Bluegrass Bloodstock, Magnatti is the second winner for stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Flokkati, who comes from the family of Group II winner The Heavyweight.

Magnus made it a winning double at Sandown with four year-old mare Mai Thai scoring over 1400 metres.

Magnus stands at Sun Stud at a fee of $19,800.
