On
the same day Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell purchased a Redoute's Choice colt from
Champion South African mare National Colour (SAfr) at the Inglis Australian
Easter Yearling Sale for $1,75 million, they won a race at Vaal in South Africa
with his full brother, who was back in the winner's circle at the same venue
again on Tuesday.
Prepared by Mike de Kock, four year-old Rafeef made it three wins from five starts
when taking out the graduation plate over 1200 metres by a long neck.
An $800,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell, Rafeef is the second winner
triple Group I winner National Colour (Sth Afr), whose current three year-old
filly, also by Redoute's Choice, was bought from the same sale last year for
$675,000.
Shadwell have now bought the last three foals in a row from the mare, who is
off to a promising start with her stud career.
She has a yearling filly by Snitzel and has had a colt foal by Redoute's Choice
this spring.
The $1.75 million colt has also been sent to South Africa and has been named
Mustaqeem.
