The
most expensive yearling by Group I winning Redoute's Choice son Master of
Design and a half-brother to dual Group I winner Trust in a Gust, this three
year-old winner on Sunday was an easy pick as the 'One to Watch'.
Trained by Lee and Anthony Freedman, Artistic Design was sent out favourite for
the 1600 metre maiden at his third start having run well for fourth and second
at Pakenham and Ballarat at his first two starts last month.
He raced handy to the pace before kicking away to win by a length and
three-quarters.
A $300,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Lee Freedman/ Cameron Cooke Bloodstock
from the Swettenham Stud draft, Artistic Design is the fourth winner for
royally bred Storm Cat mare Subtle Breeze (USA).
Subtle Breeze has a yearling filly by Equiano (Fr), but unfortunately no foal
this spring having missed to Toronado (IRE) last year.
With his oldest progeny just three year-olds, Master of Design is the sire of
three stakes horses and stands at Swettenham Stud at a fee of $15,000.
