Queensland's most promising young sire, Rothesay , can now lay claim to having the most promising horse in the Sunshine State after his 4YO son Too Good To Refuse unleashed an incredible turn of foot to come from the tail of the field and blow away a quality group of sprinters in the Listed Keith Noud (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Trainer Desleigh Forster has long held an exceptionally high opinion of her charge and has never shied away from declaring him a Group One horse of the future , and the beautiful looking chestnut looked every inch of that claim as he rattled off closing sectionals that are rarely delivered.
Allowed to drop out to a clear last on settling, Too Good To Refuse worked his way to the centre of the track as they turned for home and then just let down with a burst of acceleration that showed he was in a class of his own to win by an ever widening margin.
"We decided to skip the Melbourne Spring Carnival with him and just concentrate on the Summer Carnival up here and maybe have a crack at them on Magic Millions day," winning trainer Forster said.
"He will next line
up in the George Moore (1200m - $200,000 G3 ) and then the Lough
Neagh Stakes (1350m) before we have to decide on whether we try to qualify
him as a wildcard for the Magic Millions or go to the Bernborough
Stakes .
"Long term I am sure he can be very competitive in a Stradbroke but we will just worry about the summer first and then set our sights on the ultimate goal."
Jockey Jim Byrne was also understandably very bullish about the son of Rothesay's outstanding performance.
"He has a dynamite turn of foot and I just let him get up and go through his gears.
"There is no question he has a very bright future and can be competitive in anything that Desleigh sets him for."
