Farm's Benfica was in the frame at Sunshine Coast on Wednesday when his
talented daughter Benfica Princess notched her second consecutive win beating
older rivals with a barnstorming finish from last.
A last start maiden winner over 1600 metres at the same venue, the Kelly
Doughty trained filly missed the kick, but flew home late for Jeff Lloyd to
score a dominant long neck win.
"She's always shown us a bit, but was a filly that kept finding trouble in her
races," said Kelly Doughty.
"She's really matured in the last few weeks and I think she'll get out to 2000
metres down the track."
Benfica Princess is the third winner for Made of Gold (USA) mare Made of Dreams,
who traces in tail female line to champion mare Emancipation.
She is one of four winners from less than 20 runners for Benfica, whose oldest
progeny are just three year-olds
Benfica stands at a fee of $4,400.
