Exciting Stakes Prospect for Domesday

Tara Madgwick - Sunday November 13
Aquis Farm's Domesday is seldom without a handy galloper and his lightly raced three year-old Ruthven stamped himself as a rising star after finishing a close second in the Group II MRC Sandown Guineas on Saturday at just his third start.

A stylish winner at his only two previous runs for Ciaron Maher at Bendigo and Geelong, Ruthven handled the class rise to Graded company with ease.

He challenged strongly over the concluding stages to be beaten a head by the Godolphin runner Morton's Fork in the 1600 metre feature.

Retained to race by his breeder, Ruthven is the fifth winner from five to race from Octagonal mare Ruddigore, who was offered in a Darley Reduction at the 2009 Inglis March Thoroughbred Sale where she made $10,000.

Daysee DoomRuthven looks a certain future stakes-winner proven Group I sire Domesday, who is busy covering mares at Aquis Farm in Queensland this spring at a fee of $8,800.

Domesday was also in the frame at Rosehill where his progressive mare Daysee Doom (pictured Steve Hart) made it five wins from seven starts when saluting over 1200 metres by a length and a quarter as favourite.

Prepared by Ron Quinton, Daysee Doom has won nearly $200,000 in prizemoney.
