The Not a Single Doubt gelding Scales Of Justice earned a free ticket to next week's $1 million Group I Railway Stakes following his victory in Saturday's Group III R.J. Peters Stakes (1500m) at Ascot.
Never off the board in 12 starts, Scales Of Justice was taking on stakes company for the first time.
Paul Harvey positioned the Lindsey Smith-trained gelding outside the early pacesetter Vengabus before taking control on the home turn.
Bass Straight, who won the race two years ago, finished strongly to be beaten a length with Ideal Image one and three-quarter length back in third.
With his first stakes victory, Scales Of Justice advances his overall record to 6 wins, 5 seconds and 1 third from 12 starts with earnings of $317,350.
Bred by Gerard and Kathy Hammond, Scales Of Justice (pictured as a yearling) was consigned to the 2014 Inglis Premier Yearling sale by Milford Thoroughbreds where he was knocked down to Boomer Bloodstock/Lindsey Smith for $180,000.
A half-brother to three winners including the stakes-placed Cruyfforme (Johan Cruyff), Scales Of Justice is the sixth live foal of the unraced Umatilla mare Beymatilla, a half-sister to the stakes-placed Rancho Rose and to the dam of Group III VRC Standish Handicap winner King
Beymatilla was consigned to the 2014 Great Southern Bloodstock Sale where she could not make her paltry $400 reserve.
She has not had a live foal since Scales Of Justice but was covered by Magnus last spring.
Scales Of Justice becomes the 35th stakes winner for Arrowfield Stud's Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice).
