Daughter of $1750 Mare - Silent Sedition Continues to Plunder

Mark Smith - Sunday November 13

Never further back than fourth in her 12-start career to date, the Andrew Noblet-trained Silent Sedition kept the till ticking over with a dominant win in Saturday's $150,000 Le Pine Funerals Summoned Stakes at Sandown.

It was the third stakes success for the 4yo daughter of War Chant (USA) who came up less than half a length short of the elite level last season when second to Abbey Marie in the Group I SAJC Schweppes Oaks at Morphettville. That came following her win in the Group III Auraria Stakes (1800m) on the same track.

With Craig Williams in the saddle, Silent Sedition overcame a wide barrier to run down Sweet Redemption (Snitzel) by three quarters of a length with Extensible (Exceed And Excel) a length back in third. (photo Darryl Sherer).

"She's had a good prep this time, her first run was great and then not much luck at her last start," Noblet said.

"There's not much to her but today she's saluted.

"Coming from her three-year-old season and the spring, it's a bit hard because she's only small.

"In the autumn, she'll strengthen up again, and there's a lot of maturity to go there yet."

"We'll give her a little break now.

Consigned by Korilya Stud to the 2014 Perth Magic Millions Yearling sale, Silent Sedition was purchased by Aqua Trained Thoroughbreds for $45,000.

Her overall record stands at 4 wins, 4 seconds and 3 thirds from 12 starts for earnings of $425,900.

Silent Sedition's unraced dam Fiorentina (Dubai Destination) had been purchased for just $1,750 at the 2009 Inglis August Thoroughbred sale.

That looked to be one of the bargains of the century when Fiorentina's 2-year younger half-brother Monterosso won the world's richest race, the Group 1 Dubai World Cup.

Fiorentina and Monterosso are out of the Group 1 Coolmore Classic heroine Porto Roco whose first foal Seven Stars (King's Best) is the dam of Group II Expressway Stakes winner Happy Galaxy.

In 2015, Korilya Stud dispersed its bloodstock and Fiorentina made a more respectable $50,000 to the bid of Tubba Bloodstock when carrying a filly by Dick Turpin (IRE).

Fiorentina has a 2yo colt by Gingerbread Man and foaled a colt by Snippetson in August.
