Needs Further First Runners Hit Track on Wednesday Night

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 7
Anticipation is building with resident Armidale stallion NEEDS FURTHER having his first 2YO race starters at Launceston Wednesday night.

NEEDS FURTHER will be represented by three first starters in the Hesketh McCrimmon 2YO stakes over 800m.

Il Regalo wins his trialENZIAN (NEEDS FURTHER – ARNIKA) was a $16,000 purchase at the 2016 Tasmanian Magic Millions sale by William Hayes and is now trained by Barry Campbell and finished second at a recent Devonport barrier trial.

II REGALO (NEEDS FURTHER – YOUR CALL) was retained by its breeder and was an impressive 6 length trial winner for trainer John Blacker.

PATEENA ARENA (NEEDS FURTHER – GEHENNA) was a $22,000 purchase at the 2016 Tasmanian Magic Millions sale by William Ryan who now trains the filly.

To add further excitement to the race Armidale Stud has provided a $10,000 bonus to the breeder of NEEDS FURTHER'S first METROPOLITAN race winner.

Armidale Stud proprietor David Whishaw stated that even though NEEDS FURTHER'S dam CROWNED GLORY was placed in a Golden Slipper, "we had no expectations that he would produce early two year olds, but we are delighted that his progeny have obviously showed their respective trainers enough to have a crack at the early two year old races."

ENZIAN was bred by Jenny Watson at Macleay Thoroughbreds and II REGALO was bred by Max Pearce. PATEENA ARENA was bred by Armidale and is ineligible for the bonus.
