Queensland based freshman sire INSTINCTION is on the board with his first winner, courtesy of Paradis Imperial at Rockhampton on Friday.
Paradis Imperial took out the $30,000 QTIS Maiden Plate (1050m) on debut for her Rockhampton based trainer Lyle Rowe.
The two-year-filly had to do it the hard way by winning the race in the stewards room, with jockey Nathan day firing in a protest after being hampered by Royal Myth ($1.50 favourite) on two separate occasions.
Paradis Imperial is the fifth foal, and second winner, from the metropolitan winning Hennessy mare, Hennessy Beau and was bred by Gainsborough Lodge.
Instinction becomes the first Queensland based first season sire to produce a winner for the 2016/17 season.
The handsome son of Exceed And Excel was thrice a stakes winner in his own right and his Group 2 winning dam, De Lago Mist (by Encosta de Lago) has also produced this year's Group 2 winner, INTO THE MIST.
INSTINCTION stands for the value fee of $5,500 inc GST at Sun Stud, Queensland.
