'One out wally' on the grandstand side, Blake Shinn and Redzel (images Steve Hart) charted their own path in the 1000 metre sprint and were too strong at the finish in holding out Group I winner Terravista to win by a half head in a brisk 56.72 seconds.
"I was pretty confident that he'd run well," said Blake Shinn.
"He's a quality galloper and Peter Snowden was quite bullish before the race.
"He settled well and worked with me, so it was a great result."
A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Marquee Stud for Triple Crown, Redzel has been well placed by Peter and Paul Snowden winning five of 13 starts with prizemoney topping $420,000.
"It was the plan to go to the outside," Peter Snowden revealed.
"He loves to lead, so we just wanted to keep him happy."
A successful pinhook for Marquee Stud, Redzel was purchased from the Inglis Weanling Sale for $45,000 and was bred by Lee Fleming.
A half-brother to Group III winner and sire Danerich, Redzel is the last foal from former brilliant stakes-winning sprinting filly Millrich.
