One of Australia's most progressive bloodstock
enterprises, Aquis Farm has made two senior appointments as part of its ongoing
strategy to deliver growth and success on the racetrack and in the sale ring.
The appointments increase the size, depth and quality of Aquis Farm's
thoroughbred sales division ahead of the upcoming domestic selling season and
will support the recent, rapid expansion of its Asian business.
Jonathan Crowley will join the Farm team as Head of Sales, while Tom Inglis
will be Head of Asian and Private Sales.
Foaled and raised in Ireland, Jonathan Crowley grew up in Midleton County Cork
surrounded by horses, which led to a long and successful association with
Coolmore Stud.
He joined the National Hunt division of Coolmore in 2004 and was given an
opportunity to travel to Coolmore Australia when he was 20.
Crowley fell in love with this country immediately and continued to shuttle
with the stallions for two years until he joined the Coolmore Australia team
permanently for nearly six years selling nominations.
In 2012, he was asked to move back to Coolmore Ireland to boost their
nominations team, but after six months decided to return to Australia.
Crowley had a short stint as racing manager for Tim Martin and then commenced
as Private Sales Manager for Blue Sky Bloodstock with Julian Blaxland, which
proved a great experience - primarily planning matings, booking nominations and
targeting commercial bloodstock to trade for breeders in the local market. '
In January 2015, Crowley moved to Inglis Digital which offered a tremendous
insight into online trading of bloodstock both domestically and to
international buyers.
"I have made lifelong relationships with a large number of Australian trainers
and breeders and feel the local breeding and racing industry is clearly the
most dynamic and robust of any jurisdiction in the world," Mr Crowley said..
"I'm excited to start work for Aquis Farm as Sales Manager, and contribute to
its growth and advancement in racing and breeding in this country and
overseas."
Tom Inglis joins Aquis Farm from the famed Sydney-based Inglis auction house
dynasty and has thoroughbreds in his blood.
After a brief internship in advertising with Saatchi and Saatchi, Tom became
intrigued by the racing game and started at grass roots level.
The first stud to give Tom job was Armidale in Launceston, Tasmania, with Robyn
and David Whishaw. This was followed by six months at Randwick strapping for
Grahame Begg.
After turning 21, Tom decided to move to the international breeding 'mecca' of
Lexington, Kentucky working for the Beck family at Gainesway as a groom in the
breeding shed with champion sires such as Tapit before heading to Haras El
Mallin in Argentina.
There he worked for Antonio Bullrich and became their Australasian
representative at his sales company.
Having settled on a career path in bloodstock, Tom applied for an internship at
Magic Millions towards the end of his university business degree after Vin Cox
was appointed as the Managing Director and has spent the last two years there
as a bloodstock consultant.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the Aquis Farm team and look forward to bringing
further success to the farm and their many clients as the business expands in
years to come," Mr Inglis said.
Aquis Farm's new Chief Operations Officer, Nambok Intharangsy, has risen
through the ranks of the Aquis group to move forward in this exciting time of
change and growth.
Aquis Farm has a firm commitment to Queensland racing and breeding, and to the Australian thoroughbred industry as a whole; Aquis plans to extend its brand to facilitate the continued growth of the Queensland racing industry as well as international markets. The international market, with a particular interest in the Asian sector is the major reason behind the growth in their sales division.
The farm caters for more than 80 horses in training with private grass and sand training tracks and a restored water walker as well as lap pools.
