Bookmakers are leaning towards local hope Extreme Choice, posting the Mick Price-trained colt as favourite at odds ranging between $3.30 and $3.60.

Godolphin colt Astern is challenging for favouritism with prices ranging between $3.50 and $3.80.

Of the eight fixed odds operators surveyed by Racenet, seven of them had Extreme Choice the favourite with only Bet365 having Astern as joint favourite.

Hawkes Racing's Star Turn is snapping at the heels of the favoured pair with odds between $4.20 and $4.40 currently available.

Edging into double-figures are the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained duo of Capitalist and Russian Revolution whilst Extreme Choice's stablemate Flying Artie is trading between odds of $9.50 and $11.

In what promises to be one of the races of the spring, the Sydney/Melbourne rivalry looks sure to ramp-up within the next 48 hours as punters invest into the marketplace.
