Victorian jockey Mark Zahra has landed the prized mount aboard Vadamos in the $3 million Group I Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
Zahra replaces Hong Kong-based superstar Joao Moreira who was grounded in Hong Kong by the Hong Kong Jockey Club due to a typhoon which is expected to disrupt flights in and out of the country.
Zahra also scored the ride aboard the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained English in Friday night's $1 million Group I Manikato Stakes (1200m).
Sam Clipperton was to partner the Group I-winning four-year-old mare but will also remain in Hong Kong to ensure he is available for Sunday's meeting at Sha Tin.
