Golden Slipper 2017 - Who's in and who's out?

With 2091 yearlings having originally been entered for the 2017 Golden Slipper, there remains 1501 after first acceptances were taken this week, which makes 590 drop outs, so who’s in and who’s out?.

There's obviously a myriad of reasons why a youngster wouldn't be paid up at second acceptances, ranging from injury to later maturing, to simply not likely to be ready in time or even, dare we say it, lack of talent or a dose of reality.

The most expensive to exit in terms of yearling sale price is the top selling Fastnet Rock filly ($1 million) from the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale out of Ten Carat Rock.

That still leaves 14 of the original 15 million dollar babies in the running, one of which, Showtime has already been to the races when second to Luiza at Randwick last Saturday after making a good impression at the barrier trials.

The highest priced entrant, $1.6 million buy Chauffeur (Snitzel x Mirror Mirror) has also been seen in public when making a good impression in finishing second at the official Randwick barrier trials last month.
