Damien Oliver will chase a third Cox Plate win aboard the French challenger Vadamos at Moonee Valley on October 22.
Vadamos's trainer Andre Fabre announced Oliver as the stallion's rider after deciding to search for a local jockey after Vincent Cheminaud rode the son of Monsun to victory in the Group I Prix Du Moulin de Longchamp (1600m) at Chantilly last month.
Oliver had previously struck up an association with Lucia Valentina, which produced a victory in the Group I Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick in April, and resulted in a last-start third in the Group I Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on September 24.
Lucia Valentina's trainer Kris Lees announced Kerrin McEvoy, who piloted the mare in her 2014 Turnbull Stakes win, would be aboard the daughter of Savabeel in the Cox Plate.
Bet365 and Luxbet have Vadamos as a $21 chance to win the Cox Plate while Lucia Valentina's best price is Bet365's quote of $17.
Oliver won the 1997 Cox Plate on Dane Ripper and the 2001 edition of the weight-for-age championship on Northerly.
