The
first foal of Group I MRC Thousand Guineas and SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Gallica
is a winner with three year-old More Than Ready (USA) filly Sparkle scoring at
Warwick Farm on Monday.
Prepared by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Sparkle was not far away in recent
runs behind smart fillies A Mist Opportunity and subsequent stakes-winner
Zenalicious and was sent out favourite for the 1300 metre maiden.
She finished off well for Hugh Bowman to score a long head win providing a
great result for her owners Newhaven Park and partners.
A $210,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Amarina Farm draft, Sparkle was bred
by Richard Harding and has provided the perfect start to the stud career of
former star Redoute's Choice filly Gallica, who was raced by Mr Harding and his
wife June.
Gallica has a two year-old Street Cry (IRE) filly to follow and a Pierro
yearling colt and was covered again by Pierro last year.
