Every racing stable, every stud farm, every thoroughbred racing business
has them.
Staff who go beyond the call of duty, who start work long before dawn and never
really knock-off, who do what they do more for love than reward - and without whom
the show wouldn't go on.
Now is the time to acknowledge all those who struggle for recognition in an
industry that relies on them.
Nominations for the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards are closing on
Monday, October 3.
The GSSSA, sponsored by Godolphin and staged in conjunction with Thoroughbred
Breeders Australia and Racing Australia, endorse the huge contribution made by
those behind the front line with awards in six categories and an overall
Thoroughbred Excellence Award recognising an exceptional contribution to the
industry.
Each award winner receives a specially commissioned trophy and a share of the
$100,000 prize-pool, with a further cash award to be shared among colleagues in
their stable, farm or office.
As Hall of Fame trainer David Hayes says: "Without them there wouldn't be any
racing.
"Every job in the racing business important. Trainers can't do it by
themselves."
And in the words of Amy Taylor, one of the inaugural Australian Award winners:
"Every aspect of the Racing Industry is a full time job.
"It is tiring and relentless, and it's absolutely amazing that these Awards
recognise the effort that people put in."
Trainers, owners, managers and colleagues should nominate employees by 5:00pm
on Monday October 3.
