Scoring
stylishly at his first run for the new season in Hong Kong at Happy Valley on
Wednesday evening was Sichuan Dar (former handy Australian galloper
Affirmation) , a $50,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Three Bridges draft
for McEvoy Mitchell Racing.
He won twice in Australia for the McEvoy stable as Affirmation at Morphettville
and Caulfield and was Group III placed in the MRC Manfred Stakes before being
sold to Hong Kong where he is now trained by Caspar Fownes.
He won at his final run at Happy Valley last season and has returned in similar
form to win by half a length over 1650 metres in the Class Two event.
Bred by Bell View Park and sold as agent by Three Bridges, Sichuan Dar is by Not
a Single Doubt from Apocrypha, a daughter of Group I VRC Oaks winner Tributes.
Apocrypha was one of the Bell View Park mares sold earlier this year at their
Inglis run dispersal and was snapped up by Henry Field Bloodstock for $150,000.
She has since produced a colt by Brazen Beau.
