As a
three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group I ATC Golden Rose winner Denman, this
Lonhro colt would be expected to have ability and despite facing difficulties at
Kembla on Tuesday made a winning debut.
Prepared by John O'Shea, three year-old colt Ozark was a short priced favourite
in the 1000 metre maiden and despite being slowly away and caught up in traffic
was still able to forge clear and win by half a length.
A homebred for Darley, Ozark is the fourth winner from Ouachita, a half-sister
to Denman and full sister to Group I winner Preserve, the dam of Group III
winner Safeguard and current stakes-winner Archives.
His sire Lonhro has made a quick start to the new season with three
stakes-winners in Impending, Beirut and Heatherly.
Lonhro stands at Darley at a fee of $88,000.
