The
most expensive filly sold in 2015 by champion New Zealand sire Savabeel opened
her account with a stylish victory at Kembla on Tuesday and holds an entry for
the Group I VRC Oaks.
Prepared by James Cummings, Savvan was fifth to subsequent stakes-winner
Zenalicious at her previous run at Warwick Farm and appreciated a step up to
1600 metres to score a neck win at her fourth start.
A $350,000 NZB Premier purchase for DGR Thoroughbreds from the Trelawney Stud
draft, Savvan runs in the familiar colours of Dato Tan Chin Nam's Think Big
Stud, who own the filly in partnership with Kia Ora Stud and Westcode Pty Ltd.
She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Smashing from Group II winner Ruud Van
Slaats and comes from the family of Group I winning filly Ruud Awakening.
