Well
bred mare Maddie de Belle will head off to stud a winner after scoring at
Tamworth on Tuesday just days after being covered by Sebring.
A four year-old half-sister by Bernardini (USA) to Singapore Champion Miler and
Stayer Better Life, Maddie Belle was having her first run for Greg Bennett
having previously been trained by Gary Portelli.
Placed twice previously, Maddie de Belle bolted clear to win the 1000 metre
maiden by nearly three lengths as favourite.
Bennett's stable foreman Tina Eveleigh confirmed Maddie de Belle had only been
with them for the past few weeks to accommodate her visit to Widden Stud where
she was covered by Sebring.
Maddie de Belle will be scanned in coming days to see if she is in foal and
with a win now safely on her resume her racing days may be numbered.
One of five winners from the royally bred Sunday Silence mare Quiet Life (USA),
Maddie de Belle hails from an impressive international family that also
features Champion US 2YO Filly Storm Song and Group I Irish St Leger and Ascot
Gold Cup winner Order of St George.
