had his 14th UK winner on Thursday to see him placed a clear second
on the first season sire winners table.
Having her second start, and first since May, Melissa Jane raced on the pace in
the six furlong maiden at Chelmsford and finished off too strongly to win by a
length.
Melissa Jane is out of Queensgate (by Compton Place) and is also Foxwedge's 16thNorthern Hemisphere winner overall.
It was part of a winning double for the Newgate based stallion after Urban Fox
took her record to three wins from seven starts with an easy victory Newmarket
having been placed in Group company at her previous two starts.
Foxwedge's first crop have been enjoying a stellar second season on the
racetracks in Australia, seeing him on top of the second season sires earnings
table.
He is standing this season at a fee of $22,000
