Sires on fire ahead of Ready2Race Sale

Breednet - Wednesday September 21
The hype surrounding the Inglis Ready2Race Sale has heightened following Monday's first 2YO barrier trials, with the sire of every trial winner being represented at the upcoming sale.

Lot 225 by Exceed And Excel from the Ready2Race Catalogue breezes. Of the 15 hit-outs held at Randwick and Cranbourne, the winners were produced by a combined 11 sires, led by Snitzel and Exceed And Excel with three each.

The other winning sires were Medaglia d'Oro, Not A Single Doubt, Choisir, More Than Ready, Fastnet Rock, Redoute's Choice, Sepoy, Lonhro and Denman.

The Randwick trials, all of which were designated to two-year-olds, were attended by a wide range of owners, vendors, trainer and other industry personnel.

China Horse Club and partners had the highest number of horses to trial, with nine youngsters hitting the track for four winners, including Conservation.

Conservation (Choisir x Forest Beauty), a $160,000 purchase at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, led in an Inglis Easter graduates quinella when he beat Red Zephyr (Snitzel x Red Typhoon), a $150,000 yearling for Domeland.

Both youngsters are trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

Domeland also trialled Pierro youngster China Gale, which finished third in his heat earlier in the morning.

Waterhouse and Bott enjoyed two winners, also saddling up Misty Lad (Redoute's Choice x Anadan), a $150,000 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale graduate.

At Cranbourne, Robert Smerdon led in a quinella of Inglis graduates with Damascus Dame (Denman x Syrian Bride) and Balle D'or (I Am Invincible x Tale of Love).

Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said the barrier trial results highlighted the quality of youngsters set to go through the ring at next month's Inglis Ready2Race Sale.

"The Ready2Race Sale is the strongest catalogue ever offered in Australia for a sale of this type and that's something Inglis is very proud of,'' Webster said.

"There were some exceptionally talented youngsters go around at the barrier trials on Monday and I'd like to wish all of their owners and trainers all the best in their racing careers.

"We all know stallions come in and out of fashion. After Monday's trials, I'm delighted to say our catalogue is definitely in fashion!

"There has never been a better time to own a racehorse in this country, thanks largely to the Racing NSW prizemoney increases and the changes to the syndication laws, and the next chance everybody has to get involved in ownership is the Inglis Ready2Race Sale in two weeks.''

The Ready2Race Sale will be held at Inglis' Newmarket complex in Sydney on Tuesday October 4.
